Common Global Immigration Issues
In a global economy, you might expect there are many international immigration issues that affect millions of people each year. While immigration accounts for a huge percentage of international travel each year, there also is a substantial amount of immigration which is illegal. Consequently, the effects of immigration are quite different to those associated with illegal immigration since legal immigration is a process which is accepted and certified by any government in which it takes place. So focusing on legal immigration provides a more of a standardized perspective.
Unfortunately, the one common effect that both legal and illegal immigration has on any country is influence it has upon the job market and it actually can be an issue for two countries. While this might sound illogical at first, the truth is the country an individual leaves has an increase in available jobs while the second country or the country the individual goes to has another person searching for a job. Of course this is only true if the person moving is working. The second situation is what is focused on most by the world's media.
In the case that an immigrant isn't able to work in the new country they have moved to, there isn't really any effect on the job market. In fact under some circumstances, immigration is actually beneficial to the economy where there is a demand for additional labor in the job market of the economy. In this case, immigration and another work permit might actually help the economy.
Unfortunately, in recent years and especially since the 2008 recession, many job markets already have a surplus supply of available labor. So when there is a migration to a nation in this situation of people needing work, this actually has a negative effect upon the unemployment level. This is a source of immigration issues because in most cases due to the fact that immigrants offer their service affects the price of that labor. In fact, when the immigrant workers undercut the working citizens of the new country they entered, this can negatively affect pricing and the entire economy might suffer.
Immigration issues have affected the entire global economy just due to its very nature. Just for example, as immigration levels have increased in the past two decades, so has its effect upon population levels and the resulting effects mentioned. Immigration tends to cause population increases resulting in changes in the demographic properties of the country. This isn't always a bad thing but it can be a very difficult thing for a country so affected to maintain stability in its job market when this happens.
There is no doubt that constant cultural changes in different areas of different countries, proves that immigration is changing the demographics throughout the world. Whether this type of immigration change is actually an immigration issue will remain to be seen over time. The only way to really determine whether immigration changes are truly immigration issues or not remains to be seen over the passage of time. The only way to determine this is to consult different research examples since there has been ample research being done in this field. The research enables us to pinpoint whether immigration is actually having a negative or positive effect upon any economy or country.
